On the Journey Devotional

From the Bible
“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.”
John 14:26 ESV
In this passage Jesus is speaking to his disciples the night before his crucifixion. He tells them that he is going away physically but that he will return spiritually.
Jesus promises the Holy Spirit.
Growing up, I never knew the Holy Spirit. From a young boy, I always believed in God but I never experienced the power of the Holy Spirit until I walked through the doors of Adult & Teen Challenge in June of 2020. The power I experienced was strong enough to break the strongholds of each one of my addictions one by one and set me free! This power was strong enough to completely transform who I was as a person and filled my heart with love and gave me new desires.
Jesus healed the emptiness left by abandonment by being given up as a child and moved from group home to foster home numerous times. For the first time in my life, I knew I would never be alone again. I have the Holy Spirit, the Helper.
Reflection
Jesus is faithful to his promises. Continue to call on the name of the Lord and ask the Holy Spirit to fill you, strengthen you, teach you, lead you, guide you.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, I thank you Holy Spirit that you are saving and transforming lives. Holy Spirit I thank you for starting our ministry of Adult & Teen Challenge and all the work you have done this far. Holy Spirit I thank you that you are moving and setting people free from their addictions! I thank you Holy Spirit that you are helping restore families and communities and I just pray in Jesus name that you would continue to help us and have your way!
Amen
